Obituary of Canute Roy Rankine

Obituary for Canute Roy Rankine

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Canute Roy Rankine, who was born on March 25, 1937, in St. Thomas, Jamaica, to Leansa Hylton. He peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of faith and  love.

Canute grew up with three sisters and two brothers and was recognized early in life for his athletic talent, particularly in cricket. Before immigrating to Canada, he worked as a machinist for Goodyear and in the sugar industry.

Upon moving to Canada, Canute met the love of his life, Millicent McLeod, at a rooming house where they both resided. Their meeting blossomed into a lifelong union, and they were married soon after. Together, they built a life full of dedication and love, celebrating 53 years of marriage.

While in Canada, Canute pursued his interest in learning by studying drafting. He also worked in security and enjoyed shoe repair as a hobby. Known for his studious nature, he carried himself with humility and diligence in all he did.

Spiritually, Canute’s life was deeply shaped when he was introduced to Jehovah God by his sister in England. On May 2, 1987, he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and remained a faithful servant until his death.

Canute is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Millicent; his daughters Andrea and Sandra; his sons Fabian, Wayne, Vince, and Terrance; sixteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He will also be dearly missed by his extended family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
