My condolences to the Pickersgill family for your loss. I also am suffering that loss:
My friend Chappie, closer than a brother! Was My friend Chappie. There’s not enough space to truly express the love of a dear friend who was truly closer than a brother.
I’d like to think we were a fraternity, rather than a friendship, but the enemy in the form of sickness entered; although he was held off for a time, seeing it was losing , it brought along pain.. you fought a good fight, but gave up because you had enough . But You found PEACE! Victory at last my friend, who was closer than a brother ! Rest In Peace my Friend. You were always closer than a brother, and with my memories, you will always be.
REST IN PEACE.MY BROTHER, MY FRIEND.!

Mr. Chappie, I am so saddened by your death. I remembered the 1st time we met and you greeted me as If you had known me for ages. You treated me like one of your very own . You treated me with so much love and respect, you treated me like a son and for that I will be forever grateful to you, Aunt Louis and the rest of the family. When I heard that you were critically ill, I wanted to pay you a visit but you weren't accepting any visitors at the time and I totally understand that. I am writing this with tears in my eyes. Sometimes I ask God why GOOD PEOPLE have to go. Lord if roses grow in heaven , please pick a bunch for me and placed them into Aston Roy Pickersgill's arms and tell him that they are from me. Rest well Mr. Chappie until we meet again. Love always . Andrew Green

On behalf of the family of Aston Roy Pickersgill, I would like to send our sincerest gratitude and appreciation for the kind words and condolences that have been sent by all. They have truly helped to comfort us during this difficult time. Family and friendship were pillars of the type of life our dear “Dada” led and he had love for you all. God bless him and may he eternally rest peacefully. We love you, Dada.
….
Dada,
After embracing and celebrating what would have been your 86th birthday, I am eternally grateful for being a part of your journey. You have and will forever mean so much to mine.
You helped and encouraged me to find “me”, never shying away from challenging me, and letting me know when you were proud of my successes and failures… every single time we connected.
As an eldest grandchild, I watched you shower the same love amongst your children, my children, my wife, siblings, cousins and nephews. Your door was always open, and if it wasn’t it didn’t matter because you copied keys for all of us anyways.
You made your home a safe-haven to all of your close ones and their close ones. The caveat being you had to be prepared to immediately pull up a chair to your table, pour yourself a drink and spill your life’s work. You needed us to know you were there and that you cared.
Honouring your 40+ years with the TTC and your “retirement” where you became one of the most dependable drivers for Avis/Canadream, your true profession was never to be debated. You were a “family man”, foremost and always. I was blessed and fortunate enough to be in your presence as our patriarch; a father, eldest brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Your impact on our lives is immeasurable.
And to what I may owe you the most, is the pleasure and blessing of growing amongst the love you and my sweet grandmother Lois share. Your “Loi’” . You built and provided, always together, for each other and for us. Nothing was too grand or too small. Moments where you weren’t by each other’s sides were rare. You fought a tough and hard battle long enough to be with Mum on your 60th anniversary. I learned how to live and love through you.
I will forever miss hearing you genuinely ask me “Terone, my bwoy… how are you my son?”, you telling someone to “Mark your word..” with passion and conviction, and your classic opener, “Believe You Me”. You were always about trust.
I don’t know of a world without you, but I know you prepared me for any and EVERYTHING when facing it. I thank you endlessly for that Dada and will do all I can to live by you.
Missing you although you are forever with me. You gained wings you earned and had while with us.
Sleep well, King. With love always. God bless you.

Chappie was very special. A big brother and friend to so many of us.
He had such an encompassing smile, that radiated lots of warmth and love.
I will miss the little chats we would have each time we met, nor can I forget those wonderful Pickersgill house parties in Chapelton.
Rest in peace my friend.

I met Chappie many years ago through my husband Keith (deceased), who was like an older brother to Chappie. Through the years we met at several family functions, and that continued through our sojourn in Canada. His ready smile is one I will always remember. So sad that he is now gone from us but is at peaceful rest.
There is an unbroken thread that is woven from love, and it keeps family together always.
"The Lord blesses those who mourn and although I walk through the valley of darkness, I will fear no evil because YOU are with me all the days of my life."
With warmest sympathy from the Williams family (Jeanette, Gregory, Tanya and Peter).

My name is Paul Bunting and I met Chappie and his dear wife Lois many years ago, Over the years I have been able to meet his entire family, and without a doubt Chappie was the patriarch of his family. He was a father figure to many of his friends and a big brother to others.
Since I have known Chappie I have had the opportunity of working alongside him at Avis and I realized that he was a hard worker and a man of conviction. My wife and I have attended functions that Chappie has been very influential in organizing and we have always had a great time with his family and friends. You will be greatly missed by all.Rest in piece my friend.

It is with a heavy heart that I am paying tribute to my beloved brother, Chappie.
Chappie and I have been within close proximity throughout my life, we were separated for seven years when I left Jamaica for London, England and reconnected in Toronto, Canada when Chappie immigrated with his family.
As brothers we shared countless fond memories(too numerous to mention). However, this one stands out, I remember attending a function at Sugar Hill nightclub in St Andrew’s, Jamaica where I introduced Chappie to my girlfriend, Carmen(at the time), in the presence of our cousin Freddie. Chappie turned to Freddie and pointed to Carmen and said “A Winnie dat”, his way of saying he approved.
Chappie taught me to ride a bicycle, swim, and drive. He accepted all my friends without malice. He was a fierce defender of me no matter what the issue.
Chappie was family 1st, friends 2nd and work 3rd. He lived for his devoted wife Lois, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and of course his son-in-law, “Shawn”.
Chappie never missed any significant family functions, whether here in Canada, Jamaica and USA.
Chappie lived a full life and told me towards the end of his life, that “he is ready“.
I will always cherish my last visit with Chappie, before I left him, I hugged him and told him I love him and he sincerely thanked me for my visit; little did I know that would have been my last visit.
My dear brother rest in peace, until we meet again.
One Love❤️ Winnie

One of my favourite photos of us enjoying a nice meal in Sunny Jamaica.
I fondly remember you asking me to see the picture and giving me the nod it was a "keeper".
Uncle Chappie, your love, kindness and warmth I will miss the most.
Always asking me "how I'm doing" which warmed my heart ❤
I am so thankful for that. As well as the truly wholesome legacy you have created.
Family meant everything to you and you always showed up in full effect.
Your "footprint" is valued, cherished and forever honoured.
I love you and miss you so much!
