Obituary of Roy Vincent Murray
Roy Murray Obituary
On Sunday, November 6th, 2022, Roy Vincent Murray, loving partner, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away at the age of 80. Passionate about the well- being of his family and extended community, Roy migrated to Canada in 1969 to build a better future— an act that has lit the path for so many, all of whom have benefited from his tenacity, courage, and generosity of spirit.
Hardworking, focused, and incredibly resilient, Roy’s work journey culminated to All Metal Inc., where he worked for 30 years before retiring. An individual that found solace in predictability and routine, a typical work week for Roy would include waking up at 5:00 a.m. by means of his internal alarm clock, drinking a cup of tea and eating a slice of toast, driving to work and then home after his shift, watching the news followed by Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and calling it a day around 9:00 p.m. As for weekends, making a pot of soup on Saturdays, visits with family and friends, and reveling in the tunes from the 60s (and also dancing up a storm to them, often as the last one to leave the dance floor) were ways that Roy enjoyed his downtime.
Roy was best known for his quick-witted humour; authenticity, honorability, and directness; his unmatched wisdom; and, his deep and abiding love for family. Above all else, taking care of others was central to his existence as evidenced by his active check-ins as well as his advice that you ‘watch the card you a play.’ Born September 15, 1942, Roy is survived by his loving wife Jean Murray, children Donald, Desmond, Charlie, Winsome, Nadine, Shawn, and Jason, siblings Marty, Monica, Gloria, Ralston, Winnifred, Winston, Lola, and Beverly, over 20+ grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several more family members and friends, and predeceased by parents Ethlyn and Dewith, siblings Noel, Milton, and Sylvan, and some other family and friends called home prior to him.
