I came back to this sight even though it upsets me and it still comes to shock me that he is really gone. I am doing a school project on my hero Dwayne Rose. I truly miss him and I really wish that he could still be with us right here and right now. I know that he will always be watching over me as my angel and helping me make some important decisions. Every single time I step out onto the court to play ball, I will always play for you.

This morning as I woke up the name “Dwayne Anthony Rose” was spoken over and over in my mind. So I started to pray for him. I usually do this when people unexpectedly come to mind. Prayer for a person is complete and received when the person leaves my mind. …Dwayne did not leave.
I decided to do a Google search. Dwayne worked for me at the Royal Mattress store in the mid 90’s, I was his manager. His brother Michael introduced him to me asking if I could offer Dwayne the job he himself was leaving, so I did. Dwayne started as someone to help in the back, loading the truck, and carrying heavy mattresses to people’s vans. But seeing his wonderful smile and his great personality I decided to teach him how to sell. Dwayne was a natural! Before long I asked head office to give him a raise but they had no ear for it. I then encouraged Dwayne to find a job where they were willing to pay him his worth as the fantastic sales person he was (I myself was leaving as well).
So, I did the math and figured that Dwayne should be in his 40’s right now. I had done Google searches for Dwayne in the past but for some odd reason never was able to find him. This morning however I included his middle name. The first page I saw was this obituary - I was deeply deeply saddened and cried for a good long while. Dwayne and I shared a connection that went beyond manager/employee. He was more like a son or a younger brother and I treated him that way. Brought him home many times after work and we had many a deep talk when it was needed. I am grateful to see that he has touched so many lives, he certainly touched mine.
I can say with complete confidence that he is with Jesus, and he’s smiling...
My sincere condolences to all.
Dwayne Anthony Rose, I’m so proud of you!!!
See you soon buddy.

My how life takes it’s twists and turns, some wonderful, and some not so much. I remember my sister and I coming up to Canada several summers and playing with my Canadian cousins, Dian, Dwayne, and Mikey. Oh the fun that we had! All day and all night. Dwayne always made us laugh -Always positive and funny, my sweet little cousin. I know that you are smiling down on us right now and this separation is only for a moment, as we will unite under GOD’s firmament soon. Love you!!!

My sincere condolences to the family.
Dwayne, we are confident that you're resting in the loving arms of Jesus. We also know that you have left a legacy in the sport of Basketball and in other ways: modelling to others by freely giving of yourself - love, patience, caring, kindness, education in self-and-physical development, team work and more. I believe that others will continue your great work. Thanks for all that you have done for our community.

I have such fond childhood memories of the both Dwayne and Diane!!. Known as "Smurfette" to Dwayne back in the day... I will always cherish the great memories, laughs shared, Dwayne's smile that lit up the room (much like Diane's!), his infectious positivity and his kindness to all. Heaven has once again reclaimed one of it's best souls from earth. Some are just too good for this place. My deepest condolences to his beautiful family left behind. I hope the memories warm your heart and carry you through until you meet again. God bless.

To all of the Rose family, the Gayle family expresses our deepest and heartfelt condolences to your unimaginable loss. Dwayne literally lit up ANY room he entered. His gravitational personality could not be resisted. He exuded confidence, joy, positivity and LOVE. Personally, he made me feel like part of the family and we got along as if we grew up together. It was not surprising that Dwayne knew people I grew up with. “Six degrees of Dwayne” is something many people will experience because it seemed he Knew EVERYONE. Trent and Gillian put Dwayne on the “BEST UNCLE EVER” level to which he will ALWAYS remain. Dwayne never judged a person harshly and accepted everyone equally. His belief and love of his family as well as his determination in working hard to achieve your dreams IS inspiring. This major loss will be felt by the Rose family and beyond. Dwayne was one of the biggest and brightest personalities you could ever experience. It is an honour and a great pleasure to have known him. RIP brother Dwayne.

I still remember the first day we met. You walked into Costco Wholesale with a big smile on your face. I was asked to do your 2nd interview as I was scouting for a partner in crime who would have my back. Instantly I knew you were the man and we striked a friendship from that moment onwards. I can write a 100 pages of memories of us however the most important was that you always stood by my side during all the good and bad times.
When I needed you, you went out of your way to help me. I remember the time we ran out of gas in the Cadillac and we had to push the car from Mavis and 401 bridge to the nearest gas station. We were both in suits and ties...sweating bullets in the middle of July.
You will be greatly missed down-here as the Almighty God needed a special Rose in Garden desperately so he called you quicker than the rest of us.
Rest In Peace my dear friend.
