Ms Wheeler .. lived as a kind, caring, professional committed to producing excellent schooling outcomes for each of her students.
She understood and used differentiated instructions to support their learning, so s
he endeavoured to learn who her students are in order to serve them as a whole person.
She was amazing at building relations with students to facilitate their growth, learning and development within the context of racism and other interlocking practices of oppression.
She is one of the cornerstones of developing young people that is removed.
There is now a void!

My condolences to Tessa and brothers
I am so sorry that you had to deal with this tragic passing of your mother. I did not know her closely but can’t forget that warm smile and her commitment to the education ministry at our church. My hear is so saddened at the tragic passing but am comforted that she is in a better place and that her life is speaking loudly for women iof intimate violence. Her life has touched many that we may never understand. Praying your strength as you say your final goodbye. She is gone but will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Eternally Estella.

Words can't express the profound loss of this beautiful, kind, sincere and generous soul. Her legacy will endure forever because of all the lives she touched with her beautiful smile and gentle spirit. I can still hear her say "yes darling" whenever I would call her name. I thank her family and our higher power for the honor and privilege of knowing and working with such an amazing soul and I will forever be grateful for the time I knew her to help fill the void of this profound loss.

I never met Estella Wheeler in person, but I certainly knew about her from friends and colleagues who interacted with her regularly. She impressed me as someone who was always giving to others. May her memory live and shine brightly in her family, students, and other loved ones.

Estella was my high school senior and a sterling example of good character and devotion to family. Her generosity knew no limit as she was willing to share her knowledge and resources with those who needed them. As a mother, she was devoted and nurturing to her young ones and as an educator, her commitment and pride in her calling won her the love and respect of the Clarendon community that she served. Decades after high school we met in Toronto, in the process of acquiring additional qualifications for teacher certification. By then she had firmly established herself as a valued educator in Ontario, loved by students and colleagues alike. As always, God and family were at the forefront of every decision that she made. When I attempt to imagine the last three minutes of her life, my heart breaks over and over. Forever in our hearts, you will always remain, Estella. Rest in heaven. -Mary Bailey-
