I am looking at an old program from a wonderful concert held at the Education Centre in April of 1966 whose theme was 'April in Paris' and which featured the band known as 'The Cassanovas'. In the first page it pays tribute to many who helped that band get off the ground. "The Cassanovas owes a great deal to the constant encouragement and support of Mr. A. Ribeiro, Headmaster Grammar School and........to the early inspiration and zeal of John Battice". John and I entered Grammar School in the same year and I still break out a smile when I think of John's wonderful sense of humour! My sincere condolences to Angela and the family. May you rest in peace John.

Angela please accept my deepest and sincere condolences. I was very saddened to hear of John's recent passing. I remember John coming to Toronto in 1966, the same year that I came to Toronto as well. We were both in the cadets. We were good friends. He had a very fine sense of humour. My last memory of John was his role at your mother's funeral in which he was quite impressive. I will sorely miss him. He leaves me good memories. May he rest in peace.
