Obituary of Sonia Elizabeth Cox

Sonia Elizabeth Cox, born in Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many, left this world peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2024 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She is survived by her husband Trevor, her son Marke, her daughter Angeleta, grandchildren, Malique Cox, Tyrique Cox, Joshua Grant, Syrique Cox, Matthew Grant, Anjalique Cox, Jordan Grant, great-grand Alana Cox and Noah Cox. Three brothers, Ashley Scott, Lennox Scott and Lloyd Hall,  many nieces and nephews (Vassells/Scotts/VanHornes/Ritichie/Meylers/Walters/Green/Russell), and neighbours from the Malton community and the Kipling Acres community

Sonia came to Canada in 1985 and studied to become a Personal Support Worker, which allowed to work with the City of Toronto Long-Term Homes for almost 30 years. And for her exemplary service she received acknowledgement from the city of Toronto for her outstanding service.  When Sonia was not at work she would most definitely be found in her garden which was her place of solace and peace. Sonia  also loved to bake, crotchet, knit and sew.  There was no task that you could challenge Sonia to, to which she would not raise. 

Very close to her retirement, Sonia was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, which she battled fiercely while residing at Wesburn Manor Long-Term Care home for several years and it was here that the passed away peacefully.
