Obituary of Elaine Hyacinth Forskin

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister and Aunt. Elaine Hyacinth Forskin (nee Harris), 77, who passed away on January 1st, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Elaine was born on October 6, 1947, the fifth of nine children to Edward and Olive Harris in Westmoreland, Jamaica and was raised in England from a young age. After immigrating to Canada, she met Martin Forskin at Toronto East Seventh-Day Adventist Church and they bonded over a shared love of youth ministry, which continued throughout their lives. They married in 1972 and shared a loving 52-year union that produced 2 adoring children, Marysha and Elden.

Elaine dedicated her life to being a fantastic wife and mother. She loved to be surrounded by her family and never missed an opportunity to support their every endeavour. She was the most selfless, generous, gracious, giving and loving person and always made it her mission to improve the lives of others.

When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth, kindness and delicious food, Elaine could be found outside, either in her garden or on the golf course, her two other passions.

Above all else, Elaine loved God deeply. She was committed to serving her church and shared a powerful ministry with her husband, Martin, that positively impacted not only their church family, but the community at large.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Martin, daughter Marysha and her husband Henderson, son Elden and his wife Eugenia, grandchildren Jalen, Malik, Mia, Ayzan, Olivia, Malachi, Zynaye and Marquise, siblings Joyce, Gloria, Yvonne, Errol and Verle, as well as many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. She was the heart of our family and the love of our lives and we have no words to describe how much we will miss her hugs, her laughter and her smile.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Leeds Primary School in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. Email transfers may be sent to padandme@yahoo.ca please include the message Elaine Forskin Scholarship Fund”.
