Yesterday I heard the Sad news of Tasha's sudden passing, I'm deeply grieved. The knowledge of her death made me questioned myself, am I prepared to meet my Lord, am I ready, by the way I live out each day. Do I live as though any moment I can be called before our Heavenly Father.
To all the staff at SLPP and family of Tasha, I feel your grief, pain and loss. This is a good time to make a decision to Surrender to Christ or to recommit your life to Christ by Surrendering to His Holy Will.
You can do so by reading the Gospel of John, and praying asking Christ Jesus to be your lord and Saviour.
God Bless You all, and May he give you strength in your Journey in the absence of Your coworker and family member Tasha Chivan.

Last night I dreamed of you and you were still alive. While I don't remember a lot of the dream, I know I was so happy that you were alive again. I have been wanting to write a tribute to you for a while now, and it's just so hard to do as it makes this final and real. It feels so surreal that you are gone. It feels like a bad dream. I am grateful that I got to attend your visitation on Friday. But it was so hard to see you like that. The tears came and I wished to God again that you were still here.
You touched so many lives Tasha. While I only worked with you for the last year, you taught me so much. You taught me how to have thicker skin and to be more confident in my abilities. I was getting to know you better and you began to share more of yourself with me and others. We actually had lots in common. I wished to know you better as you weren't only my boss, but I considered you a mentor and a friend. I always said to others that I didn't know how you did everything you did, and that we would be lost without you. I never imagined that this would happen to you. You put your all into everything you did and with such passion. Your door was always open, and I knew I could always approach you and that you had all of our backs.
I'll never forget you Tasha. You made a lasting impression on me and so many countless others. I will never forget your big eyes, smiIe and contagious laugh. I think of you every day and I think about how you would handle situations and will always look to you for inspiration and guidance. The tears have fallen so many times since you passed and I know they will fall again and again. May God keep you in His arms, and may your beautiful soul be at much needed peace and rest.
I love you Tasha. I'm so thankful I knew you. Love always Loretta.

Tasha, today is a day I surely wish wasn't needed. The first day I met you, I recall getting a strong sense of a woman who was in command. Someone who clearly was a no-nonsense person but interestingly carried a obvious sense of care. In the few (5) months that I have known you, you have made an indelible mark on my life. As my Supervisor, you were easy to talk to, always understanding and very caring. I will always, always remember some of our private chit chats and as I write, I remember the way you stared at me with those bright eyes almost popping and made me feel comfortable in no uncertain terms. Tasha, I regret not having the opportunity to realize the great partnership you had planned for us; it was exciting times ahead. You have left a significant void but your legacy will on!
Sleep in Peace Tasha

Tasha was my colleague and over the years became a dear friend. Those who worked with her and came to know her can truly say she was an extraordinary, exceptional Strong black woman and accepted nothing but the highest quality of work. She took great pride in whatever she produced. Any project under her portfolio was always executed immaculately.
I admired her tenacity and passion for work and people, as she sacrificed herself countless times for her staff.
Her feminine grace and strong sense of self could not go unnoticed as she confidently stepped in meetings and commanded the room on a daily basis. Her main aim was always getting the job done well while striving for excellence.
I would often refer to her as the Olivia Pope of the organization, without the scandal. She gladly accepted the name after I briefly described her and she promised to watch the show with whom that character belonged. However, time didn’t permit.
Another friend asked after her death, oh Tasha! I wonder what are you doing now and I replied, ‘taking a much needed rest.’
I am deeply saddened that you didn’t get to accomplish so many of the goals that you had planned for your life. She had so much to offer the world. Working with our people, especially empowering youth and young ladies as that was what truly defined the core of what fuelled her very existence.
I miss the in-depth, solid and thought provoking conversations we would have. I miss the inside jokes and funny personal stories we would share but, most of all, like so many, I miss that very loud, healthy, contagious, uncontrollable, “belly bottom” laughter that would take over her being whenever she found a story very funny.
I am truly missing you and will continue to miss you my sister. God saw it fit for our paths to cross when it did. You were a born leader, an example and we are happy to say thank you for looking out for us. You are gone but certainly not forgotten. We love you and salute you.
My heart goes out to the family, your daughter, your sister, your Aunt, cousin and loved one, made you all proud to the end. May her soul Rest In Peace.

SaTeri Shems Amen, "One who receives the magical strength from GOD by following the ways of heaven". SaTeri, words cannot express my love for you. I am blessed to have had you as my friend, my sister since 1999. Our first interaction showed me the beautiful person that you were: one of non-judgementalness, one of joy, of sweetness, of justice and of truth. Over the years, I have watched you blossom, despite the challenges that have happened along the way. I know that you're still with us in the inner planes and will continue to guide us here on earth. Your memory will never be forgotten and your legacy will continue. That, I promise to you. Meri tu my sister. Rest in perfect, perfect HETEP!

"If you're going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can't be erased." - Maya Angelou
Chivaun (Tasha) sure did leave a legacy behind and a mark in my world that will never be erased. Tasha played a key role in opening up my eyes to being a black woman in the workplace as well as how to love myself as a black woman. Tasha was not my supervisor, she was a mentor and a friend. She was someone I could walk into her office and vent; she was brilliant, authentic, funny, and overall just a vibrant spirit who I was blessed to know. My relationship with Tasha was not always great, and I will never forget my supervision meeting with her when she said she saw qualities of herself in me. She highlighted my strong leadership abilities but was also able to educate me on how to better present myself in the workplace. I sought her advice regularly in both the workplace and personally. She pushed me out my comfort zone and is one of the reasons I started to fully pursue my work with women. Tasha, I miss you. I miss your laugh, knowledgeable conversations and BLACK GIRL MAGIC. I will never forget your smile, the advice you have given me. Last year was truly a ground-breaking moment in our relationship because I will never forget our conversation where you told me you were aware of the racial prejudice and discrimination I was facing in the workplace by our HR department. You stated you wanted me to know that behind the scenes you had my back and everything would be okay. My plant based sista you will truly be missed.
To know Chivaun was a blessing, if not life changing for many. I thank you for the value you saw in the RSW's at SLPP, all the handwork you put into the agency; you were a CRUCIAL role in where the agency is today and St. Leonard's will never be the same without you. I am so sorry your worth was properly recognised by this organisation...under your leadership this agency would have FLOURISHED. You keeping teaching even when not on this planet because your death has taught me to surround myself with those who see your worth and how important self-care is. It was funny at one point when you would call us overnight to check on things but I wouldn’t answer but rather text you to go sleep…but I knew it was because you cared and was passionate about your job. I value all your hard work and for all you have taught me about myself and being a black woman of this world. To her family my heart goes out to you and I will keep you and her always in my prayers. May you now rest in peace in God’s hands.

First my condolences to the family. have been working one on one with Tasha for the past 4 years. This news has honestly taken a real toll on me because I did see her as a mentor and a strong black leader. We have had our ups and downs and we've definitely butt heads but my experience working with her has been nothing but great. She has push me out my comfort zone many times and I appreciate her for it all. I am still in disbelief as to what happened. My last conversation with her was her telling me to take and enjoy my vacation, for me not to be like her and work myself to the bones....and we laughed. I told her to get some rest and call me if she needed me to come into work. That was my last memory of her...laughing...her laughter was so loud and it filled up any room she was in. I am heart broken and have not been able to come to terms with it all as yet. Tasha was not just a supervisor to me, she was a friend, a mentor and I valuef her and all her hardwork. My heart goes out to her family and I will keep you all in my prayers. Tasha may you finally rest in peace! You will forever be in our hearts

I worked with Tasha very closely before returning to the UK. Tasha was a brilliant black mind. Full of potential and promise. She excelled at all she did, was extremely knowledgeable, smart and strong. She worked too hard and spent far too much time devoting herself to an organisation who never realized her worth or appreciated what she could bring to the table. A life cut too short and a greatness that was yet to come. Tasha had the potential to be a great black leader of today, her heart for black youths was always shared with those who had an ear to listen. When we worked together, and after, I was very fortunate to have many long conversations with Tasha and to understand her heart. I know she was a light that was hidden under a crushing workload that took every ounce of her potential for greatness away. I wish she had chosen to walk away rather than stay - she may have yet been here to reach her full potential. May you rest in peace Tasha. You were taken too soon from planet earth - your light was snuffed out. I was blessed because our paths crossed. Condolences to her family. She spoke highly of her mom and loved her sister and niece - she spoke of them all the time. Blessings. Juliet Williams
