Today an icon was placed to rest. Big man you look like a movie star. You looked so amazing going home to the Lord. The casket , I can't even describe it. God knows why he took you in the middle of this pandemic. The whole city would have to be in a lock down. Look how many people today. There would be no other like you BABA!! Rest in Peace my friend. I hope we can organize something in your name to continue your legacy ! Sharing is Caring. Peace, Love& Harmony.

I was shocked when I heard you passed away, because we always thought Baba would be here to stay, you are loved and I still have love in my heart for you, it's very sad we couldn't make you stay. A Golden Heart stop beating, hard working hands at Rest, God unfortunately broke not only my Heart, but his children & grandchildren, to prove to us, he only takes the Best. We shared a special gift you and I and I hold nothing against you, we will meet again on the other side someday. We love you, and will forever miss that infectious smile, you are gone to sleep, but will forever remain in our Hearts.
Our time here on Earth is a School, and Grief is the toughest class we have to attend. You will forever be missed Patrick, may your Soul Rest In Peace, because God has chosen to us all that he only takes the Best Indeed.

Expression of Condolences on the death of Lancelot George Patrick (Baba) Giscombe
To Patrick’s aunts, uncles, brother and sister, his children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and all other family members and friends, I join in sharing fond memories of Patrick, known lovingly all his life as Baba.
Baba a name given by his then young sister Jennette in reference to him as “brother” and in name and nature all his life, he became a brother to many. The pride enjoyed by our family when “baba” was brought home from the Jubilee Hospital in Kingston remained with us as we all watched him grow under the affectionate care of his late mother Maria. Lancelot, a very “noble” English name as that of his Paternal Grandfather, represents his character.
While his maternal grandmother predeceased his birth, he enjoyed the adoration and doting of his maternal, grandfather, grand uncles, grandaunts, aunts and uncles who ensured that he received the blessings of God and love and care of the family within the Morris Household. Living under the influence of a God fearing family, Baba attended church and Sunday School at the Hanover Street Baptist Church in Kingston.
His frequent visits with his Paternal Grandmother, Grandfather and other members of the Giscomb family provided him with additional love and affection, as he grew into a very bright and intelligent student at Calabar Elementary School in Kingston.
The love and bond which existed between he and his older sister Jennett was unparalleled and soon after she gained acceptance to attend Camperdown High School, he was right behind her, gaining a scholarship to attend the prestigious (KC) Kingston College High School for Boys.
Those who may have been challenged by him by his views of Sports, may be surprised to know that while at KC, it was not all “Books” for him. He had the pride of representing KC in School Boy Cricket. Many were the times when he and I joked about his team competing against Ardenne High school, the school at which I was a teacher and coach. While school rivalry existed, for him it was only on the field and he enjoyed the friendship of many colleagues from other secondary schools in Jamaica.
Upon his arriving in Canada, mine was the pleasure to once again welcome Patrick and his family as they started a new life in this their adopted country. His mother Maria, a hardworking mother constantly prayed for her family, and he in life demonstrated an everlasting respect and care for his mother.
In offering comfort to all, I wish to share two stanzas from the poem, Desiderata from the original text by Max Ehrmann © 1927
“Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.”

Baba was a phenomenal door opener! Here's just one of the many doors he opened for me even though I was a stranger to him and his family.
Within two weeks of my arrival in Canada, he took me to see an immigration lawyer who was in his network. He paid for the consultation & immigration work with no strings attached. The consult helped me gain clarity on my options in Canada.
That amazing gift gave me the support I desperately needed as a visitor to Canada with no family there. Within a year and a half I got my landed status & was able to sponsor family members.
His generous act created a liberating future for me in which I never had to struggle as an illegal immigrant. There is no price I can put on that.
That gift from Baba was a miraculous breakthrough for me. It set me up to succeed in Canada and the world really. Today I'm an international motivational speaker & success coach and I share the story of his generosity to inspire others. I also find ways to open doors for others as a way of paying forward his kindness.
Baba was an earth angel who gave me a miraculous blessing which is part of my life story.
My deepest condolences to his entire family...
Baba will never be forgotten. His legacy of humility, generosity and kindness will live on forever. May he rest in peace.

Our condolences to the Giscombe family. Baba’s death is a great loss to us. He was known to those who knew him as Baba.
Baba was known to be a good father to his children and grandfather to his grandchildren, and also to those that knew him. Baba was known for his kindness towards others as well as his willingness to help others in need. Baba had an infectious smile which lights up wherever he was, as well as a good sense of humour. You will be truly missed. So, my friend, take your rest on your Saviour’s breast until we meet again on that great day.

Baba...An ICON, A Legend and most of all a very Kind and Humble individual, whom, my family and I have a great deal of respect for.
When I heard of your passing, words could not express the disbelief I felt...
I remember the last time we saw each other in 2019.,though the situation did not allow us much time to catch up, we did took a brief moment to sync. Where I paid my respect and appreciation....Your kindness will never be forgotten and will live on for many many more years....
It is so sad that you are no longer here with us, but I know that you are a man of faith, so I take pleasure in saying, you have now join the father, who I know has welcomed you with open arms, because of the work that you have done on earth.
Throughout your years you have brought many smile to many individuals and families, including my own, and I remain grateful.
Fly high my King, Fly High....There will never be another!!! BLESS UNTIL WE SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN.
